Director’s Update

So far in 2015 we have seen some great possibilities for the senior organization. You can download our 1st Quarter Newsletter in addition to these updates.

We received a grant from the Community Foundation of Teton Valley in support of our Bus Program.

♥ We would like to increase the number of bus excursions to include:

♥ Monthly Bus trips to Jackson to the recreation center for Senior Aerobic or just swimming.

♥ Lunch at the JH senior center

♥ We plan to introduce a monthly shuttle service to Idaho Falls for appointments and shopping with the option to go twice per month if there is a need.

cftvThis shuttle service would be for the entire community and would involve a small fee as well. The bus will be used to provide rides to our congregate meals on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays as well as transportation to local events like Music on Main, the Teton County Fair and 4th of July festivities.

We would like to thank the Community Foundation of Teton Valley for the Bus Grant 2014!!

Also in the works as far as adding to the programs for our seniors is the upcoming Restorative and Gently Yoga class we plan to incorporate into our fitness programs.

Currently we have 4 days per week dedicated to fitness and balance classes:

♥ Tai Chi on Tuesdays and Fridays at 10:00 AM

♥ Fit and Fall Proof on Mondays and Thursdays at 9 AM

We have applied for the Community Foundation’s Youth Philanthropy Grant to purchase equipment for this upcoming class. We also have a great partner with this program in Yoga on Little, who has been having a weekly donation only Yoga class from which they are planning on donating the donations from that class to the Seniors West of the Tetons!!

That means that even if the grant is denied we will still be able to fund the Restorative Yoga class!! We would like to say Thank you to JoAnne Lucey and her staff at Yoga on Little for sponsoring and teaching this important fitness class to our community.

We are seeing our summer seniors start to return a little early this year with our mild weather. Come in for lunch and say hello!! We love to meet new folks and share stories and lies during lunch.

have a group of women interested in playing bridge on the first Thursday of each month after lunch 1:00 PM; if you would like more information give us a call 354-6973!

We also have a new quilting rack, we would enjoy visiting and tying that quilt you’ve been waiting to quilt or sew, we will be have puzzles being put together and our library to visit or relax and read in.

We invite you to share our friendship and food, we invite you to get to know our seniors and to join us in our active and fun offerings at Seniors West of the Tetons!
